Location:

On Main Street (Route 186) in the town of Prospect Harbor, Maine, we are approximately 40 miles North from Bar Harbor.  Our part of Maine is known as "Downeast" (Acadia), a reference that dates back to the shipping industry of the 18th and 19th centuries when Maine was a shipping capital. When schooners sailed from Boston to ports in Maine, they traveled to the east. They also sailed downwind (with the wind at their backs). This led to the expression "Downeast".

Oh, by the way....did we forget to mention that you can purchase fresh live lobsters just across the street?  Maine has the sweetest, juiciest lobsters!  We have many large lobster pots in the kitchen.  Lobster Cooking Tip:  Just remember, you don't want to boil the lobsters, you want to steam them, they taste much better.  Visit the Maine Lobster Promotion Council for detailed cooking instructions.
